Kaagaz Project mini-documentary
Kaagaz (meaning paper in Hindi, Punjabi & Urdu) is a pilot multi-arts project to engage young people and families with a focus on South Asian Heritage families but open to all. The aim of the project is to use historic events, in this case the partition of India in 1947, to engage young people and families in the arts as well as arts venues.
Participants of the project were introduced to South Asian dances, creative movement, visual arts, storytelling and creative writing through online activities with professional artists. Activities were inspired by personal accounts from people affected by the 1947 partition of India. Participants also had the opportunity to try out activities at home with their family.
A mini-documentary film screening about the project will take place at the Whitworth Gallery in Manchester and the Partition Museum in Amrtisar, India. The documentary will be premiered on YouTube on Saturday 14 August at 11am VIEW HERE.
