Dr Vikram Visana from the University of Huddersfield offers an insight into how Indian workers in West Yorkshire shaped its local politics.
The history of immigrant labour is often told exclusively through the lens of social and cultural experience and how immigrant communities adapted to their host countries.
However, in re-telling the story of the Indian Workers’ Association we can show how immigrant communities contributed in new and exciting ways to the political landscape of the United Kingdom.
Dr Vikram Visana MA (Hons) MSc PhD FHEA is Senior Lecturer in South Asian and Global History at the University of Huddersfield.
